SAF MISSION STATEMENT
The
Mission of the Society of American Foresters is to advance the science,
education, technology, and practice of forestry; to enhance the competency of
its members; to establish professional excellence; and to use the knowledge, skills,
and conservation ethic of the profession to ensure the continued health and use
of forest ecosystems and the present
and future availability of forest resources to benefit society.
The
Ohio Society of American Foresters strives to achieve this mission on a local
level through a diverse membership of over 250 professional foresters, forest
technicians, and student members.
Members are employed through industry, private, and public institutions. Our diverse group includes government, industrial, urban, watershed,
and consulting foresters, researchers, and many other related fields and specialties.
Forestry students at SAF accredited schools are an important component of our membership as well. The Ohio Society of American Foresters consists of two student chapters at The Ohio State University and Hocking College.
